The Australian Manufacturers championship debut of 17-year-old Maddison Gray has proved a highlight of the weekends racing at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit in Victoria as Lauren Gray Motorsport ran two cars for the first time.
Whilst Maddison drove the teams Toyota Echo in Class E, Lauren Gray raced the Toyota Corolla Sportivo - already driven to fourth in class at Bathurst and second at Symmons Plains this year – to a second-place finish overall in Class D.
After achieving the rare feat of finishing the Bathurst 12 hour as a father-daughter combination, LGM’s performance this weekend saw sisters both finish on their respective class podiums at Phillip Island.
Double trouble for LGM at Phillip Island When the Australian Manufacturers Championship lines up at Phillip Island next weekend for the third round of the Shannons Nationals Motor Racing Championships, the competition will be seeing double, with Lauren Gray joined on the grid by her younger sister Maddison, as this championship has its final hit out prior to the Australian Six Hour at Eastern Creek Raceway on July 18. While the vastly experienced Lauren will continue her championship bid aboard her Toyota Corolla Sportivo, Maddison will be making her tin-top debut behind the wheel of the Toyota Echo previously campaigned by Lauren throughout the 2008 season.

Symmons Plains Second for Lauren Gray LAUREN GRAY MOTORSPORT has bounced back from race one dramas to finish a strong second in round two of the Australian Manufacturers Championship’s Class D at Symmons Plains Raceway. Brake line dramas forced driver Lauren Gray out of the first of two, one-hour races held at the weekend but a superb drive in the second heat returned the teams’ Toyota Corolla back into contention. Gray qualified second in class, just one-tenth behind the pole sitter before the stopping issues – at a track known for being tough on brakes - struck during the first race.
